Blue Class: Lanterns of Light

This week we had a lantern workshop. We had to make them for a lantern parade!! First we put ourselves in two groups. I was in the Berry group. On the first day we met Helen who was our teacher. First we made the shape with bamboo. The next day we covered it with strong tissue. Then we stuck on paper.

For the last three days we have been making lanterns for the up-coming Christmas parade on 30th November. It will be dark so we are going to light them. Helen (an artist) helped us make them. We made them with: bamboo, sticks, strong tissue paper and coloured tissue paper.

We made a lantern we loved it and did it in 3 days. We are going to light them up when it is dark. We had help from Helen – she is a very good artist. We had to use lots of tape and glue.

This week we spent 3 days working on lanterns for the up-coming parade. We first started with a circle and ended with a bird. The tricky thing was bending the bamboo sticks. Me and Camilla had some help from Helen. I think it will look nice for the parade.

This week we have spent three days making robins (a bird) and holly (Christmas flowers) lanterns. We put lights in them so you’ll definitely spot us when we’re going to Hay’s Galleria on the 30th November on Thursday. We spent a lot of time on these so please come.
